Meet Dr. DJ
Dr. Deborah “Dr. DJ” Johnson-Blake is the CEO of The Writing Pad, LLC, a writing, editing, and consulting firm focusing on proofreading, editing, customized writing, personal and professional development training time management coaching. She is an award-winning assistant professor, dissertation research chair, and a leadership subject matter expert at Liberty University. Dr. DJ is a corporate trainer and speaker, helping participants improve relations and achieving personal and professional goals in the workplace and beyond.
She also serves on several boards and committees. Dr. Johnson-Blake is the Immediate Past 2019-2020 President and member of the ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) Douglas County Charter Chapter, a board member of Beyond the Front Porch and Douglas County Partners in Education, and a member of the Junior League of Douglas County and its Nominating Committee. She is a member of the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce and serves as a Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Diplomat. Other memberships include the Georgia Continuing Education Association (GCEA) and the Georgia Association for Women in Higher Education (GAWHE) and the 2020 recipient of the Louise McBee Scholarship, which is underwritten by GAWHE. Dr. DJ is the Lead Coach for Woman University, a subsidiary of Marvelous Light Empowerment Association helping women start where they are and give them a clear path to claiming their destiny.
She is the 2021 American Business Woman and a 2021 Top Ten Business Woman of the American Business Women's Association. Dr. DJ is the 2020 Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Diplomat of the Year. She is the recipient of the Georgia Continuing Education Association's 2021 Exemplary Contribution Service Award and the 2020-2021 Shining Star for the Junior League of Douglas County. She is the first honoree of the Collaborator Award (2020) sponsored by the Business Women Empowerment Project/Women on the MOVE.
Other awards and accolades include being the recipient of the 2019 Chamber Spirit Award recipient and the 2019 Woman of the Year for the American Business Women’s Association Douglas County Charter Chapter. Dr. Johnson-Blake was recognized as an Entrepreneur in the 2018 Edition of Who’s Who in Black Atlanta and is a graduate of the Leadership Douglas Class of 2017-2018 and Leadership Clayton Class of 2011-2012.
When she is not working with her students, clients, and giving back to her community, she is busy speaking and promoting her books and conducting training. Dr. DJ is a Certified Time Management and Life Coach and author of Managing Time on Purpose, a practical guide based on theory and best practices that can be used to help people become more time management efficient. Also, she is a best-selling author and a co-author of Women Level Up and Lead, and K.I.S.S. Destiny Fears Goodbye. Her most recent books are 52 Time Management H.A.C.K.S.: Hacking Actions to Conquer and Kick Time Setbacks, and Being the Best You: Intentional Journaling and Planning to Take Back Your Time. She has been a contributing writer for the South Fulton Lifestyle Magazine, South Atlanta Magazine (formerly We are Clayton), and the Douglas County Sentinel. She has been featured in VoyageATL, Shoutout ATL, and Em-Spire magazines, and Atlanta Eats - The Juicy Crab (Kennesaw) episode. Dr. Johnson-Blake earned a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leader from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Public Administration from Troy State University, and a Bachelor of Political Science from Old Dominion University. She resides in the Atlanta Metropolitan area with her husband and son. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, collecting cookbooks, and serving others.
